Doc Watson - Music Legend

Born in 1923, Arthel Lane “Doc” Watson was an award-winning guitarist, singer, and songwriter who specialized in bluegrass music. His mastery of various styles earned him recognition from the Grammy Awards and Kennedy Center Honors throughout his career.

Today, visitors flock to nearby Wilkesboro for its annual MerleFest—a music festival which celebrates traditional American music through performances by musicians from all over the world.
