Nestled in the serene landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Weaverville, NC, holds a special place in my heart. Growing up in this charming town, I was always surrounded by its rich culture and vibrant arts community. Weaverville is a hidden gem in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, known for its strong sense of community. The Craft Trails initiative of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area seeks to connect visitors with local artists and galleries, offering an immersive experience into the world of handmade crafts.
Through this series of videos, we aim to bring these stories to life, capturing the essence of Weaverville's creative spirit. Each video features interviews with local artists and gallery owners, providing an intimate look at their inspirations, techniques, and the significance of their work.
One of the standout features of this series is the opportunity to hear directly from the artists themselves. We visited studios and galleries, where artists shared their personal journeys, the stories behind their creations, and the challenges and joys of their craft. These interviews offer a rare glimpse into the world of artisans who continue to keep traditional crafts alive while infusing them with contemporary creativity.

FAMILY TRADITION
Among the talented individuals we featured was the Mangum family, who are often credited with igniting the craft movement in Weaverville by opening their studio and gallery on Main Street. Rob Mangum, who grew up surrounded by potters and musicians, honed his craft over the years. Today, alongside his wife Beth and daughter Leah, the Mangum family offers a multi-generational story of artistry and tradition, providing visitors with an immersive and inspiring experience.
